The Origins of Dermiglo
With over 30 years of experience in the beauty industry the dermiglo vision is an idea that began 20 years ago. My background is very creative, something you will soon come to realise, if you don’t already know me! However, as a teen I suffered with horrible acne and fell into using wrong hair removal methods, which affected my self-esteem and confidence. Therefore, I can fully understand how upsetting and damaging the battle with skin issues can be. Nowadays with the influence of social media, there is even more pressure to look a certain way and with so much information out there, it can be difficult to know what to trust.
As a teen I also used the wrong products, which didn’t help. This led me to pursue a career in the world of Beauty, where over time my confidence greatly improved and I qualified with my first Beauty Therapy Qualification in 1995. Since then I have studied numerous subjects in the industry, attaining a variety of qualifications, including advanced treatments, such as Electrolysis, Thread Vein Removal, Laser Hair Removal & IPL, and Micro Needling.
After attaining a Post Graduate Degree in Housing, I worked with a number of charities and Third Sector organisations. This further strengthened my passion and engagement with in communities, and from where I have made lasting memorable relationships. This passion led me to carry out charity work in the east and African continents, as well as supporting vulnerable women and families across Scotland.
I have had the privilege of working in the Beauty Industry abroad as well as here at home. To see the positive difference something small can have on someone is remarkable. Dermiglo brings this vision to light, aiming to bring out the best in you, by not only helping to improve the appearance of your skin or body area, but aiming to help improve your wellbeing too! We take a holistic approach, because we believe that beauty is internal as well as physical.
